It was the most eagerly awaited toy event of the year here in Ireland and as usual, it didn’t disappoint. RTE’s ‘Late Late Toy Show’ was broadcast on Friday night to the delight of little and big people alike!
There were so many wonderful moments in the evening but one of our personal favourites had to be the brilliant performance by the children of the Holy Family School for the Deaf. The children, ranging in age from four to twelve, came together from all over Ireland to perform a beautiful version of ‘True Colours’ through Irish sign language. Accompanied by their teacher and conductor Shirley Higgins, the children’s performance was truly magical.
After a suitably extended applause for the eighteen children, presenter Ryan Tubridy appeared with none other than our own Wildlife Photographer Mia! Launched earlier this year, Mia is the world’s very first mass-produced doll with a cochlear implant.
Each of the hugely talented children was given their very own Mia to take home with them. The wonderful performance and the presentation of Mia were listed among the Irish Independent’s ‘ten most talked about moments of the Late Late Toy Show 2017’.
It’s certainly one of the most talked about moments here in Lottie HQ! We’re all smiles today and hope that all the members of the Holy Family School choir enjoy their very special new dolls.
